The Chac Mool rests in the Maya Hall of the National Museum of Anthropology, face turned aside and a vessel on its belly. It was found at Chichén Itzá in 1875 by a photographer convinced the piece proved the existence of Atlantis; the governor of Yucatán claimed it for Mexico before it could leave the country.
