Historia familiar

CARING FOR YOUR EYES FOR MORE THAN A CENTURY.

100 YEARS OF FAMILY HISTORY.

Our family has been dedicated to vision care for generations. Dr. Graue Glennie, our great-grandfather, opened his first ophthalmology practice in 1898 in downtown Mexico City. He was followed by our grandfather, Dr. Graue Díaz-González, on Oaxaca Street in the Roma neighborhood. Later followed by our father, uncle, brother, and cousins.

For many years, we studied the manufacturing quality and detail of frames. We listened attentively to the experiences of our customers and friends with their glasses: what they were looking for and liked; what was unnecessary or uncomfortable; what details they valued; what colors, shapes, materials, and technology they expected. This is how we learned the value and importance of good glasses: the glasses that become an heirloom, a piece of history.

IN 2010 WE OPENED ESCÓPICA,
AN OPTICIAN'S SHOP IN THE ROMA COLONY
THAT HOUSES THE BEST BRANDS
OF LENSES OF THE WORLD.

With all that experience, testing, sketches, and research, eight years later we created Gramo, our eyewear brand, the first to be designed in Mexico and manufactured in Japan. A Mexican brand that reflects our ancestors' dedication and commitment to vision and does justice to the family legacy that makes us so proud. A brand that also celebrates the tradition of perfect Japanese craftsmanship. Its name is a double play. On the one hand, Gramo is the acronym of our last name—Graue Moreno—and on the other, it alludes to one of the essential values of a frame: its weight. The weight, in the literal sense of the word, of a pair of glasses defines its essence. Light, heavy, imperceptible, or obvious.

THE FRAME REFLECTS THE CHARACTER
OF THE ONE WHO CARRIES THEM.
