The Mexica distinguished two kinds of chimalli: those carried into battle and those awarded as insignia for what had been achieved there. The shield was defense and recognition at the same time.
The sunglass frame inherits that double function. A rectangular silhouette in thick acetate, with parallelogram rivets, double-barrel hinges and UV100 lenses. It protects and it shows.
